If you're a runner who likes to write, this camp/retreat is for you! The Writers Who Run Retreat is a small intimate group of writers and runners who want to share time with each other in their 2 main passions: writing and running. Each morning, we'll run 2-3 miles of smooth, flat running on a paved walkway, around a pristine lake, with swans and geese dotting the landscape. There are 4 guest authors teaching a variety of 8 writing workshops throughout the week. We'll have social activities, personal writing time, critique opportunities, and more! On Saturday, there is a 5k race for the entire community. Since 2016, Christie Wright Wild has brought together adults from all over North America who love to write and run. Whether you've run 2 marathons before, or have never run even a 5k yet, this is the retreat for you. The race on Saturday morning is the pinnacle experience, followed by our evening Mega Party (book signing, costume party, and awards ceremony). If you love making memories with new friends in beautiful locations, we deliver! There is a place here for you no matter how fast (or slow) you think you run. Aside from running, the other main "requirement" is generally that you also have an interest in writing. Most attendees write fiction, but we have had some who write poetry or memoir. Great for beginners, intermediate, and even advanced writers. You will learn and grow. You will feel creative. You will be productive. You will make memories to last a lifetime. You'll create momentum that will power you through another year, until it's time to come back and experience it all again. Yes, we have repeat attendees every single year. "The 5k race taught me not to give up - it was a huge accomplishment for me and one of my fav parts of the retreat. It helped me let go of my doubts and what's holding me back." -Carolyn To learn more, visit our website at www.writerswhorun.com/retreat. Registration deadline for 2024 Writers Who Run Retreat is July 23.
